I am so excited for the new season of The Great British Bake Off on BBC 2 starring the lovely Mary Berry!! The first episode did not disappoint, and in anticipation (and to while away the terrible weather) I baked up a batch of my favourite muffins with Summer berries and coconut.
The coconut adds an interesting texture...and I am not entirely in lust with it...but the berries were nice for a frozen mix (strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, black and red currants) and they rose really well.
And...over the weekend I knit this cute little berry pink hat for the impending autumn...
sorry the weather is not good xx love the muffins and ADORE the hat - such a lovely photo of you too xxxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeletehmmmm....berry muffins AND a berry-coloured hat...sound slikeyou're on a specific colour theme!!!! Good job on both, Hoiaberry (and on the self portrait)!!!!

Pah! Mary Berry indeed! Lovely hat!
ReplyDeleteI often use frozen berries in the winter, they do work well, as your lovely muffins proove! I just love the hat, and soooo wish I could knit!
ReplyDeleteCherry...i hope the weather gets better for your visit!! I adore my hat too!! xxx
ReplyDeleteMummi-ji...berry berry theme! :) xx
Dom...for pretty much the whole episode I was thinking about you...but I guess now you wouldn't be considered amateur anyway what with taking over the world and everything :)
Your hat is glorious..I wish I could knit, and even more I wish I could knit lacy patterns like that. My daughter can, though, so maybe i will send her this post and ask her nicely to make me one! And I'm still jealous of your high rise muffins...
ReplyDeleteFab hat!!! Muffins look pretty yummy too - I quite like the coconut idea...perhaps with cocoa powder to make a kind of Bounty muffin??

Great muffins but I am in love with that cute little hat!
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a baker, but i do love muffins. Last year I picked up late on watching the GB Bake Off, this year I thought I'd watch it from the start. My heart went out to the first contestant :(
ReplyDeleteLoving your cosy hat - you say impending autumn, I saw some leaves floating from trees this morning - It already feels like autumn here, plus the strees are swaying - ah my favourite season.
coconut is my fave - I love your little domed cakes; they look like mini St Paul's cathedrals!
ReplyDeleteVictoria - I have been having a wonderful time reading your blog (I'm back to Oct 2110) really enjoying myself.
ReplyDeleteLove it all .... and really love the hat!!
I loved the episode too and was also thinking how great it would have been if Dom had been on. I know he would have been better than a few of the contestants there!
ReplyDeleteI like your addition of coconut to the muffins - tropical!
lovely cute hat!
ReplyDeleteLove your hat Victoria and those muffins look so good. When I make muffins, I freeze them and when I need a special breakfast treat a few seconds in the microwave and I am Happy again.

Very cute hat indeed and I'm looking forward to catching up with episode 2 of GBBO tonight.
